LABOR RELATIONS

A graduate of the University of Iowa and DePaul College of Law, Steve Goldston has more than 30 years of extensive and diverse experience in Human Resource Management and Labor Relations. As a Human Resources Director, his experience includes a broad spectrum of HR activities in both unionized and non-unionized venues, and includes employment in private sector and not-for-profit organizations: nuclear medical instrumentation; hospital administration; social science survey research; field marketing/merchandising; nuclear power plant field construction, and “assisted housing” administration   As a part-time adjunct professor, he has also taught HR and labor courses at Chicago area universities.

Steve’s background includes:

• Labor contract negotiation and administration: including grievance hearings and resolutions
• Compliance with federal and state employment regulations: including investigation, negotiation and resolution of wage and hour, EEO, unfair labor, and workers comp claims and complaints.
• Benefits Administration: responsible for selection and administration of group welfare plans (health, life, std, ltd,), 401(K) plans, EAPs, etc.
• Compensation Administration: responsible for design, negotiation and administration of wage and salary plans in both unionized and non-unionized venues
• Policies and Procedures: development and administration of a broad array of employment policies, procedures and work rules.
• Training and Development: Conducted sessions with management personnel on candidate selection, labor contract administration, discipline, policy execution, etc.
• Management/Supervision:  Have managed HR Departments and supervised HR Specialists therein.
• Recruitment and Staffing: Extensive experience in the recruitment and staffing of a broad spectrum of executive and senior mgmt personnel, and other personnel including R&D scientists, Engineering, Administrative, Sales, Clerical, etc.
