    Soft Skills Too!

    Presenter: Evera Ivy

Are your employees lacking soft skills, or have you noticed a decline in soft skills within your workforce? During this workshop, we’ll discuss prioritizing soft skills enhancement, ways to boost such skills, and specific soft (and/or civility) skills that seem to have the greatest need for improvement.
This session will provide employers with information, concepts, and ideas for providing an
intentional focus on employee soft skills enhancement.
    LEARNING OBJECTIVES
    • College students (future new hires) viewpoint/understanding of soft skills and how their perspective impacts the workplace
    • Steps (some) colleges are taking surrounding such skills
    • Reasons and ways to prioritize and enhance soft skills among employees
    • Techniques to improve specific soft skills.

Evera Ivy has worked in Career Services/Workforce Development for over 15 years, with more than eight of those years specifically in higher education—at both two- and four-year institutions. Her work in higher education also encompasses coordinating the student employment process and navigating both the student and hiring manager perspectives.

Evera’s work with students, higher education peers and employers led her to take a closer look at soft skills, the emerging and widening skills gap, and placing awareness and intention on these important workplace and life skills. This focus also became one of the main areas of study during her master’s program. In addition to earning her SHRM-CP in 2016, Evera earned her Master of Science in Training and Development degree in May of 2024.

SSCHRA is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs for SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP®.  This program is valid for 1.00 PDCs for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP. For more information about certification or recertification, please visit shrmcertification.org.
