At this months presentation, we will learn interview techniques that can be used during the course of employee interviews and even prospective employee interviews.  Kenneth L. Carter and Doug Cunningham will discuss and illustrate interview techniques that can be used for general inquiries or matters more serious in nature (employee wrongdoing, etc.).  This interactive presentation will include role play scenarios and case histories.

Learning Objectives:

The workplace is changing. Like it or not, employees are spreading the word about companies and their culture. Nearly three-quarters of U.S. workers aren’t engaged. Work/life balance lines are blurring. Millennials communicate differently and have different expectations. Great talent is difficult to attract, hire and maintain. Today, it’s critical to communicate effectively with recruits and employees. Tim Padgett will discuss how effective communication is paramount to success.

Levels of employee engagement directly relate to important business outcome, including customer satisfaction, employee productivity, company profit, employee turnover, and occurrence of safety incidents. Strong employee engagement improves the employer brand and supports recruitment and retention efforts. 

This month meeting, Ingrid Stevens will discuss The Four Enablers of Employee Engagement. These four enablers of engagement have proved to be useful lenses which can help organizations assess the effectiveness of their approaches.

The Debate on the Usefulness of Performance Appraisals

Performance appraisals are a routine practice in many organizations; however, there is pronounced disagreement about their effectiveness for managing human resources. Dr. Stephen Wagner will examine the potential problems with performance appraisals, as well as challenges with eliminating performance appraisals. Research findings on tactics intended to improve the performance appraisal process will also be explored.

This power team will enlighten us with employee benefits solutions for our ever-changing business environments.
